Aviation High School Miami: AHSA Leads a New Era in Aerospace & STEM Careers

Aviation high school Miami programs are becoming essential to preparing the next generation of pilots, engineers, drone operators, and aerospace professionals. American High School Academy (AHSA) is leading this movement as one of Miami-Dade County’s most advanced aviation, aerospace, and STEM-focused high schools. With its expanding campuses and new Hialeah–North Miami location which opened on the grounds of Miami Dade College North in August 2025, AHSA is reshaping what future-ready education looks like for students pursuing high-demand aviation and technology careers.


AHSA Students Recognized at the Miami-Dade Aerospace Forum

At the Miami-Dade Aerospace Forum held at Florida International University (FIU) and hosted by the Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy, AHSA students received public recognition from Miami-Dade County Commissioner Roberto J. Gonzalez. The event brought together civic leaders, aviation experts, engineers, and industry executives to discuss aerospace innovation and the future of Miami’s aviation workforce.

Commissioner Gonzalez highlighted AHSA students for their dedication to STEM, aviation, and aerospace learning—reinforcing AHSA’s rising presence as a workforce-aligned institution preparing students for real industry needs.


Commissioner Gonzalez Shares AHSA Students on His Official Public Post

Following the forum, Commissioner Gonzalez shared images from the event on his official public social media account. His post included:

  • A panel discussion with FIU leadership

  • Photos of AHSA students speaking with the Commissioner

  • A message emphasizing youth preparation for emerging aerospace careers

This public acknowledgment validated the role AHSA students are playing in Miami’s evolving aviation ecosystem.


Commissioner Gonzalez Visits AHSA Kendall Campus and Awards Internship

Weeks later, Commissioner Gonzalez visited AHSA’s Kendall/South Miami campus, touring the academy’s:

  • Professional-level flight simulators

  • Aerospace engineering and rocketry labs

  • Robotics and AI workspaces

  • CAD and 3D fabrication studios

  • STEM classrooms and technical learning environments

During his visit, AHSA STEM student Rhapsody Peña was offered an internship in the Commissioner’s office—an opportunity that demonstrates AHSA’s commitment to real-world workforce preparation.

According to Reinaldo Valentino, AHSA’s Head of Schools:

“Miami’s future aviation and aerospace workforce is already in our classrooms. Our students are learning aviation science, engineering, robotics, AI, and rocketry at a level that prepares them for high-demand careers.”


Aviation High School Miami Programs That Address Workforce Needs

The national aviation sector continues to expand, and AHSA’s pathways were created to meet both regional and national workforce shortages. According to Boeing’s 2024–2043 Pilot & Technician Outlook:

  • 690,000 new pilots are needed worldwide

  • 649,000 new aircraft maintenance technicians will be required

  • 938,000 new cabin crew members will be needed

The United States also expects growing demand for drone operators, aerospace engineers, robotics technicians, and AI-driven roles.

AHSA’s aviation and aerospace curriculum includes:

  • Private Pilot Ground School

  • FAA Part 107 drone certification preparation

  • AOPA-based aviation STEM coursework

  • Rocketry and aerospace engineering

  • Robotics, coding, and machine learning
